UNC Wilmington

All right, I’m home. My opinions of the first two colleges I visited are below, so here’s my opinion on the third…it was awesome. If I had to choose between the three I saw, UNC Wilmington wins, hands down. However, I still have some reservations about whether or not I should go there (I’ve already made up my mind to apply – but the application isn’t binding). Here are my thoughts:

Pros: Has the major I want (as well as 71 others if I change my mind), 5 miles from a beach, beautiful campus (trees and flowers everywhere, ponds, benches, etc), not too warm or cold, emphasis on hands-on learning, Screen Gems is located there, constant movie and TV shootings, everyone seems really friendly, wireless campus

Cons: It’s 5 hours away from home, they require you to take a gym class freshman year, out-of-state tuition, hard to get in (they only take about 18% of out-of-state applicants), cafeteria doesn’t have as much selection as the other two I saw, I’m slightly allergic to the beautiful campus

So, what do you think? Are the pros enough reason to go, or are the cons enough reason to look for something else? I’m visiting more campuses in April, but unless I find something I like better, this is it.

  1. Sorry, I broke my own rule. That was SCWoman, or Mary, speaking.

  2. I think the pros outweigh the cons. There is no guarantee in getting in any school, so don’t let that keep you from not applying. Plus, if you got in we could always come and visit you and see the pretty beach! <3

  3. HAHA! You’d have to take GYM! *watches Mary die again in 7th grade*

  4. ^comment above was by Whitney. As a matter of fact, this one is too.^

  5. For your information, I am in much better shape now than I was in 7th grade. I doubt I’d die.

  6. I know, but I still get flashbacks from the days when we had to run the PACER…

  7. That was quite horrible. Although, gym could have its advantages. Freshmen at college usually aren’t that healthy, and it’s a great way to meet new people.

  8. True, true.
